Dubai Frame

The Dubai Frame is just under 500 feet tall & 305 feet across. You can inside and up to the top of frame. There is an observation deck spanning the width across the top and the floor is partially glass so you can see all the way down.  It was designed by DONIS

The first time I saw it was so exciting it was in the cab across the freeway from it.  I will always remember this exact moment.

The first time I saw the Dubai Frame was before it was officially open to the public so I had to walk thru a park to get close enough to get some half way decent photos.

Having to traipse thru the park to see the frame proved to be a worthy bit of kismet because it turned out the frame was built next to the old Stargate Theme Park. The juxtaposition of the frame and the flying saucer was  something both Magritte and Dali would have found great inspiration in

It is really breathtaking.

You get two unique views in the frame from one side Old Dubai and the other the new one. If you are a baller you can rent a helicopter and see for me I had to make do with raising my arms as high as possible to get a small taste.

UPDATE; I went back in January when it was officially open and I took Flat Stanley with me. He is visiting from Florida.

We touched it and everything.

We went to the top and this time saw the flying saucer the ways aliens see us...from above

The glass on the floor is opaque until you step on it and that is when the vertigo becomes real and your legs begin to shake. I stopped looking down and just filmed looking straight ahead.

I post this with all due respect to the creator of the Dubai Frame. He works with Donis. His vision is stunning and Dubai was really lucky in finding an artist with such a unique and exceptional idea for setting their city apart. I also have a deep regard for the workers who built it. The climate in UAE is tough for people who work outdoors that is what makes this venture even more astounding. The amount of passion, dedication and work that it took to create and build this is proof of why art and artists are so vital to our well being.
